Historic moorland hotel reopens

The White Hart Hotel in Moretonhampstead has reopened for business. Under new private ownership, the hotel has undergone major rebuilding and refurbishment work and been returned to its former glory – back at the heart of the town’s activities.

Karen Kitshoff has been reappointed general manager after an absence of 18 months and has, together with new chef Matthew King, devised exciting new menus.

‘We believe our menu has something for everyone, from traditional pies and steaks to more exotic fish and vegetarian dishes – made with fresh, local seasonal ingredients,’ says Karen. ‘‘We also have an ‘un-fussy’’ wine list and a good range of local real ales.’ Guests are welcome to dine in the bar or restaurant. The hotel also serves coffees and Devonshire cream teas and, with free wi-fi, it’s an ideal venue for relaxed get-togethers.

The hotel has 28 en-suite bedrooms, 20 in the main hotel and 8 in the nearby Mews. Tastefully furnished, no two rooms are the same, reflecting the architecture of this historic building with its interesting nooks and corners. The Mews is a contemporary conversion of an old building, 60m away from the main hotel – ideal for families or groups as it can be booked as a separate unit. The hotel’s Stag Suite is also available for functions.
