New spring issue

The spring issue came in last week, and has now been delivered to outlets all over and around the moor. Many newsagents and shops are supplied by Smiths News but we do around 30 outlets ourselves, and on Thursday I covered the mid and southern parts of the moor, dropping off stock at all manner of places: Ullacombe Farm Shop, Holne Community Shop, the Dandelion Cafe at Moorlands Hotel at Haytor, Ashburton Produce Market, the Royal Oak at Meavy, Fox Tor Cafe at Princetown, the East Dart Hotel... we have some new outlets too – Artworks and The Oak in South Brent, Dean Court Farm Shop at Buckfastleigh, and (for their spring and autumn garden openings) Lukesland at Harford, near Ivybridge. So little by little we're getting the magazine into more and more places: Dean Court have called this morning (Monday) to say that they have already sold out, which is really encouraging.

I also had two good meetings last week with Mike Nendick, Communications Officer for DNPA, and Charlotte Dancer, Information and Communications Officer for the Tamar Valley AONB. It looks as if there is a wealth of information relating to the Devon side of the Tamar that we could put in the magazine: the Tamar Valley is geologically linked to Dartmoor, and has always played in a prominent part in the industrial archaeology and social history of the west side of the moor, so it would seem appropriate to cover it too. Watch this space!
