A Grand Day Out - All Aboard for the Tamar Valley

People in Plymouth will have the opportunity to discover the sights, sounds and tastes of the Tamar Valley on Friday 8 June at the Tamar Valley Grand Day Out event.
The event has been organised by the Tamar Valley AONB and the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership to give local people a taster of what the Valley has to offer.
The 10:54 and 12:54 departures from Plymouth to Gunnislake will have Bluegrass band the Kit Hillbillies on board. Then there will be various activities for all the family at the Tamar Valley Centre in Gunnislake, a short walk from the station, from storytelling and bug hunts to local produce tastings and guided walks.
Rebecca Catterall from the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership said “The Tamar Valley has lots to offer for a day out and it doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Simply catching the train from Plymouth, having a walk and a picnic can make for a really ‘grand day out’!”
Becki Lumbis from the Tamar Valley AONB said “We are hoping families from Plymouth will come and enjoy the activities we have arranged on the day and then come back again and again to enjoy what this beautiful Valley has to offer.”
The Off Peak Day Return Fare from Plymouth to Gunnislake is £5 adult, £2.50 child (5-15 years). Passengers can also join the train at Devonport, Dockyard, Keyham and St Budeaux Victoria Road stations. Four people can travel for the price of two adult fares with a GroupSave ticket.
