Midnight Madness

I've just received notification of the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team (Plymouth) Midnight Madness walk, which will start from Princetown Primary School at 9pm on Saturday 21 July. The 18km circular route follows the dismantled railway track past King Tor then Leather Tor Bridge, then passes south of Crazywell Pool before returning to Princetown via South Hessary Tor. If you haven't done it before it is great fun, especially if you get a clear and moonlit night! For details and booking visit www.dartmoorsartplymouth.org.uk or contact Ken Ringwood, 5 Wellsbourne Park, Plymouth PL3 5JJ, tel: (01752) 225185.

The summer issue is now out in the shops; and, while on the subject of walking, those of you who have seen it will have read that a bunch of us successfully completed the Dartmoor Perambulation at the start of May. Thanks once again to all who came along, whether for one day or the full 52 miles. It set me up for a recent trip to the Isle of Mull where I did Ben More and Dun na Ghaoithe in temperatures topping 28 degrees C!
